Natalie Portman seen on Feb 26 2011 in Santa Monica, CA. Getting dressed up in a sunny frock despite the drizzly day, Natalie Portman
stepped out in Santa Monica for the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards
on February 26.
For the pre-Oscar event Natalie chose a free spirited Givenchy frock with canary lace accents and a taupe printed skirt balancing the bold hue. To mix bold colors and textures like Natalie, try the similar bodice style of Sue Wong's Pleated Bubble Mini in Magenta or Sue Wong's Ticked Hem Embroidered Beaded Bubble in Citrine. Nat balanced the dress with neutral taupe pumps (like Coye Nokes' Jacqueline Pump in Taupe Patent), carrying a sunny yellow snap clutch to complete the look (check out the unique pleated details on Inge Christopher's bright Armadillo Fold Front Clutch in Yellow). What do you think of this look, does it work for Natalie's growing belly? It's definitely a little risky, but I think this works well for her complexion, and even gives her tan a boost. When asked how she's choosing her awards show attire this year, Natalie shared with the paps that it's all about comfort on the red carpet: “It’s certainly all about leaving space for growth… but it is always surprising also that that’s become the conversation instead of the movies now, unfortunately - what are you wearing?” While that may be true at the beginning of the show, now that Natalie's picked up the Oscar for Best Actress I think she'll be sharing more than how she chose her dress! Did any of you have a chance to catch her acceptance speech tonight?

Natalie Portman seen on Jan 30 2011 in Los Angeles, CA. Putting her growing baby bump on display, Natalie Portman
is a vision in white on the red carpet of the 2011 Screen Actors Guild
Awards in Los Angeles on January 30. In the past we've seen some
pregnant women limited to giant black tents on the red carpet, but Nat
confidently strutted in a white strapless Azzaro gown that leaves little
to the imagination (whiten your wardrobe for spring in Luc by Lucy's
short Cut Out Bella Dress in White or Sue Wong's formal Jeweled Mermaid Maxi Dress in Ivory).
Natalie paired the dress with a black Roger Vivier clutch with a
crystal inset that mirrors the embellishment at the top of her dress
(check out Whiting & Davis' Crystal Accents Minaudiere in Black)
and black heels. I'm not sure how I feel about mixing black accessories
with such a stunning white gown, do you think it works? Nat completed
the look with over $2 million in dazzling Tiffany & Co. diamond
jewelry, including a pair of spectacular drop earrings and two matching
silver cuffs (shine on and save your pennies with Anna Beck's Gili Skinny Cuff in Silver).
What do you think of Natalie's ensemble, is this avec child style done
right or is this just a white tent? I think the fabric choice could have
been a little more forgiving – those wrinkles under her belly aren't
very chic – but otherwise I have to give her credit for taking such a
brave step. Natalie was up for Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actress
at the SAG Awards, and no surprise she added the award to her trophy
collection along with her Golden Globe for Best Actress. As the Oscars
draw nearer, Natalie shared her joy to be nominated for her performance
in Black Swan: "It's obviously a big honor [to win an Oscar].
The company in which it puts you even to be mentioned among these other
women is a huge, huge honor and a huge compliment. It's just an
extremely flattering, just meaningful to be among these people I really
respect and admire." Can't wait to see if she'll win this one as well!
Natalie Portman seen on Jan 08 2011 in Palm Springs, CA. Not afraid to take fashion risks, Natalie Portman
camouflages her baby bump in a black and white dress the 2010 Palm
Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala in Palm Springs, CA on
January. At the event Nat happily accepted the Desert Palm Achievement
Actress Award, which was presented to her by former flame Jake
Gyllenhaal. Nothing like a pregnant encounter with your ex! For the gala
Natalie chose a playful silk Vionnet frock with a noir ruffle accented
skirt and sheer ivory yoke and sleeves accented by gold studded cuffs
and collar with a dramatic tie back detail. To simplify the look, try
Luc by Lucy's elegant Mesh It Up Mini Dress in Grey or Carter's Twist on the Classic Dress in Black, and if you want to add some gold shine try Anna Beck's Bali Multi Disk Cuff in Gold.
Nat completed the look with gorgeous crystal encrusted Christian Dior
heels and a ruched satin handbag (like Inge Christopher's Theda Oversized Clutch in Black).
Emphasizing the masculinity of the neckline, Natalie slicked her hair
back into a tight chignon and added some extra sparkle with her dazzling
engagement ring. It's been almost three weeks since the news broke that
29 year-old Nat is engaged and expecting her first child with
choreographer Benjamin Millepied, whom she met while filming Black Swan in New York. Natalie rarely confirms or denies rumors about her relationships, but she did confirm the news to People: "I
have always kept my private life private but I will say that I am
indescribably happy and feel very grateful to have this experience." She continued in an interview this week with Fox News: "I
feel so, so lucky. I am trying to take it all in and enjoy everything…
It makes me feel calmer about everything to be in such a lucky place in
my personal life." When asked if she will continue working after she becomes a mama, Natalie replied: "I
have no idea (if motherhood will influence my role choices). I just
have no idea what it is going to be like. I’ll figure out the right
choices when it happens." Looks like she has a lot to look forward to over the next few months!
Natalie Portman seen on Nov 29 2010 in New York, NY. Looking lovely at the Gotham Independent Film Awards, Natalie Portman
graces the red carpet in an envious Lanvin for H&M frock at the
event in NYC on November 29. There's been some outcry about celebs
unfairly snagging pieces from the highly coveted collection, but since
Natalie's so down to earth I wonder if anyone got to wait in line to
score the dress for her? I'm loving the dramatic one shoulder style on
her, the deep plum shade is a perfect alternative to traditional LBD's
(check out Luc by Lucy's One Shoulder Ruffle Mini in Brown or Jenny Han's Asymmetric Ruffle Shoulder Dress in Jacinta to make a similar statement this season) with black pumps (like Loeffler Randall's Wide Heel Pump in Black) and a jeweled Dior clutch adding texture (mix it up with Inge Christopher's Jaipur East/West Frame Clutch in Multi).
I love the bright red lips and understated updo – what are your
thoughts on this look? Natalie's highly anticipated psychosexual
thriller Black Swan is finally out in theatres, which means Nat
can finally have a press break after many appearances chatting about the
film. Natalie had full ballet training for almost a year before
shooting, but that didn't stop her from sustaining a rib injury while
filming a lift with her partner, giving David Letterman the full
explanation while making an appearance on The Late Show the week before the release: “I
injured a rib, I like dislocated a rib, it sort of went under another
one…when you get lifted it just sort of went under. It’s funny because
when I got injured I called the producer, I was like ‘Could you get the
medic? I need an ice pack or something right now or Advil’ and he was
like, ‘Oh, we don’t have a medic because it’s super low budget,’… I have
been working for like twenty years, I don’t even think that’s legal. I
was like before you take away a medic, take away my trailer…and the next
day I didn’t have a trailer, I swear to God!” Talk about an intense day at work!
Natalie Portman seen on Nov 13 2010 in Los Angeles, CA. Still basking in the after-glow of the AFI FEST 2010, Natalie Portman
arrives at the Governors Awards in Los Angeles on November 13 drenched
in a gorgeous bordeaux hue. As expected, Natalie's new thriller Black Swan
received high marks at the film festival, giving me just another reason
to wish it was December 3 already! Natalie arrived at the Governors
Awards ceremony at the Grand Ballroom on Saturday looking decadent in
her elegant Lanvin gown with a gathered puff at the shoulder (get plum
perfect this winter in Lotta Stensson's Ruffle Front Tube Dress in Fuchsia or for color and print lovers Meghan Los Angeles' Lola Dress in Magenta)
and matching satin strappy heels. I'm not so sure about the
matchy-matchy footwear, but I am completely smitten with the rich berry
shade against Nat's complexion. Perfection! Natalie carried a champagne
satin clutch (try Jalda's Fabric Kona in Bronze) and added a simple pair of gold earrings and a gold bangle set (like Alex and Ani's Patented Expandable Wire Bangles in Yellow Gold)
to complete the look. What do you think of Natalie's formal style, does
it suit her? I can't help but get excited when I see Nat dressed in
something figure flattering, well coordinated and stylish, so this one
wins for me. Thoughts? At the AFI screening, Natalie and her co-stars
Mila Kunis and Winona Ryder shared their views on the ballet component
of the film, which Nat seemed to be the only one thrilled with: "It
was really an amazing challenge. I started a year ahead of time doing
the dance training, and it was really rigorous and challenging but
really incredible because all of that discipline and pain really goes
into the character." Hope all that hard work pays off for her in the form of an Oscar nomination!
Natalie Portman seen on Oct 07 2010 in New York, NY. Bringing some color to the ballet, Natalie Portman arrives at the NYC Ballet 2010 Fall Gala at Lincoln Center in New York City on October 7. After filming Black Swan
centered around New York's iconic ballet company, Natalie attended the
gala in support of her beau Benjamin Millepied, who is one of the
principal dancers. The couple met last fall while Ben was choreographing
for the movie, and it looks like they're still going strong! Despite
the falling temps, Nat arrived in a gorgeous green frock with an
asymmetrical shoulder drape (get your green on in Boulee's Liv Bustier Dress in Green or Boulee's Dolores Tube Dress in Turquoise) paired with strappy gold heels (similar to Gwyneth Shoes' Omyrah in Gold). Adding even more color, Natalie carried a fun pink clutch (check out Lodis' Lily Large Clutch in Fuchsia) and accessorized with a sparkly cocktail ring (add some bling with Alex and Ani's Fifth Avenue Cocktail Ring in Topaz).
I think if she'd worn her hair up it would have given the whole look a
much more elegant appearance. I do like the unique drape of her dress
but it looks like it needs something at the front – maybe a little pick
up at the shoulder, or a more playful neckline? Something's missing!
What are your thoughts on Natalie's gala attire, does it work for her?
While Nat spent the night supporting her man, he'll soon be supporting
her when Black Swan hits theatres the first week of December. You can check out the thrilling trailer and posters online
now and see what you think. I literally have chills after watching
Natalie morph into the Black Swan – can't wait to see the drama unfold
on the big screen!
Natalie Portman seen on Sep 13 2010 in Toronto, Canada. Lighting up the red carpet, Natalie Portman arrives at the Black Swan
premiere Toronto International Film Festival on September 13 in
Toronto, Canada. Natalie normally goes for a natural look, but I'm
loving her sophisticated curls here! Nat walked the red carpet in a
floral black and white printed Jason Wu frock (if you're a fan try Sue
Wong's Two Toned Strapless Flower Petal Mini in Black/Ivory or Meghan Los Angeles' Daffodil Mini in Black Print) paired with demure black pumps (like Coye Nokes' sassy Jacqueline Pump in Black Crocco) and a quilted clutch with a rose appliqué (play up the romantic vibe with Inge Christopher's Marie Bubbles Leather Clutch in Champagne). Nat added a kitschy bowtie cuff bracelet but left her décolleté bare to show off the gorgeous frock. Last week Katie Holmes wore a dress in the same print from Jason Wu's Resort 2011 collection to The Romantics
premiere – who do you think wore it better? I think Natalie has this
one, hands down! Besides Wu-ing the red carpet, Natalie has also been
wooing the critics with her performance in Black Swan, which made
its world premiere only three weeks ago at the Venice Film Festival but
has already drawn Oscar buzz. Natalie spoke out humbly about her chance
of a nomination: "Its very complimentary and flattering that people
are talking about that. The best thing with this movie is that everybody
really seems to be having a strong visceral response. Obviously what we
do is about wanting to make things that people connect to, that's the
biggest prize." Looks like she's already a winner!
Natalie Portman seen on Sep 02 2010 in Venice, Italy. The lovely Natalie Portman
mingles at a cocktail party for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association
at the 2010 Venice Film Festival on September 2 in Venice, Italy. Nat
chatted with director Darren Aronofsky, who got behind the lens of her
latest film Black Swan, which premiered the day before. Compared
to her dramatic red carpet look, Natalie took it easy in a violet Jason
Wu dress with black polka dots (browse Amberlynn's Pollie Dot Dress in White or Walter's Polka Dot Burnout Dress in Black for similar dotted options), pairing her simple dress with classic black Christian Dior ballet flats (try Coye Nokes' Grace Flat in Black Patent) with a black clutch in her hand (like Lodis' Cayman Siren Clutch in Black).
I think this is an adorable and appropriate look for Natalie, it's
flattering to her skin and figure and I love the sophisticated dot
print. What are your thoughts on this? Natalie has already received
praise – and promises of awards nominations – for her role in Black Swan, and her director Darren chatted with MTV about just how long he's had his eye on Nat to star as a prima ballerina: “I
first talked with Natalie about this project at least 10 years ago. We
were in Times Square and had a coffee at the old Howard Johnson. I had
this idea of setting something in the ballet world. It was very loose. I
didn’t have a script. And then I found out she was fascinated by ballet
and wanted to play a dancer.” Sounds like both of their dreams came true!
Natalie Portman seen on Sep 01 2010 in Venice, Italy. Natalie Portman
may need to work on her street style, but she was on fire on the red
carpet at the Venice Film Festival last week, stepping out for the Black Swan photo call at the Style Star Lounge on September 1. In contrast to the scrubby attire
she was spotted wearing while shopping with her ballet beau Benjamin
Millepied in LA a few days ago, Natalie cleaned up in a gorgeous violet
strapless Miu Miu frock (rock the rich shade in Fernanda Carneiro's Rose Dress in Amethyst or Luc by Lucy's Tube Top Tracey Dress in Purple) paired with classy Charles David satin pumps (keep it simple with Coye Nokes' Jacqueline Pump in Taupe Patent) and a shiny silver Dior clutch (try Christopher Inge's Margo Ripple Clutch in Taupe/Silver or Julie K Handbags' Sasha in Silver).
Dewy makeup and a shiny blow-out complete her red carpet style, which
I'm finding myself quite enamored with. What are your thoughts on her
look readers, isn't it a drastic improvement from her day-to-day style?
Though Natalie has been staying out of the spotlight this summer, from
the light tan lines peeking out of her dress I have to guess she's had
some fun in the sun with Black Swan choreographer Benjamin over
the summer. The pair have been dating since the film wrapped last
winter, but at the Venice premiere and photocall they were careful not
to be photographed standing next to each other – even though they were
snapped out in LA together just a few days ago. Tricksters!
Natalie Portman seen on Jul 24 2010 in San Diego, CA. Emerging from her shell, Natalie Portman
takes the stage for a Comic-Con panel discussion at the San Diego
Convention Center on July 24. Nat took part in Marvel Studios' Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger
discussions, the former which Natalie has been shooting in Santa Fe,
New Mexico with hunky co-star Chris Hemsworth. Dressing casually for the
warm beach weather, Nat took the stage in comfy trouser shorts (add a
little sex appeal with Ella Moss' Sedona Shorts in White) with an ultra femme tucked in blouse (check out Quiksilver's Riverside Short Sleeve Top in Platinum) and comfy black flats (keep your soles happy in Coye Nokes' Grace Flat in Black Patent,
which also comes in a more neutral Cognac Calf shade). As always Nat
could have tried a little harder to be exciting here, but I like the
easy, girl-next-door balance she has going on here. What are your
thoughts on Nat's style? At Comic-Con Natalie disappointed the comic
fans in attendance with the news that she won't be appearing the new Avengers flick in addition to Thor, but she did take a moment to highlight her new role in the thriller Black Swan.
The possibility of a little girl on girl action is always intriguing
for your average comic reader! Are you interested in catching Nat's new
dancer thriller?
Natalie Portman seen on Jun 10 2010 in Culver City, CA. Playing up a very girly vibe, Natalie Portman
is pink perfection at the 2010 AFI Life Achievement Award Ceremony at
Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, CA on June 10. It always strikes
me as funny that Nat's everyday style is so boyish, but she's still able
to pull off ultra femme looks like this on the red carpet. On this
occasion Natalie started with a pale pink Christian Dior dress with a
rose cut-out overlay (go girly at your next special event in Luc by
Lucy's Tube Top Tracey Dress in Pale Pink or Sue Wong's Floral Overlay Dress in Ivory) paired with modest ivory pumps (love the similar knot detail on Gwyneth Shoes' Paulette in Ivory).
Natalie polished the look with straightened locks, carrying a black
clutch embellished with an ivory bow (kick it up a notch with Susan
Farber's Piccola Sofia in Zebra Black/White).
Are you in favor of this look, or do you think she's not doing such a
pretty dress justice? I'm not quite sure about the handbag choice, but
this is a big step in the right direction in my opinion. It's fitting
that Natalie is wearing Dior here, because Women's Wear Daily is
reporting she was just appointed as the new face of Parfums Christian
Dior. This announcement comes as a little bit of a surprise to me, not
only because Nat isn't closely associated with high fashion, but because
she's generally anti putting herself out there. E! Online pulled up an
interesting quote from a 2009 interview: "I don't have a problem with
making money, but I don't believe in doing something you don't believe
in to make money, like a makeup campaign or something like that -- the
opportunities that young actors have all the time." So I guess we could assume this means she "believes" in Dior? We'll have to wait and see if there's a follow-up comment!
Natalie Portman seen on Apr 29 2010 in New York, NY. Looking lavishing in crimson, Natalie Portman
hits the red carpet for the 2010 New York City Ballet Spring Gala at
the Lincoln Center on April 29. After recently starring in Black Swan,
Nat stepped out to support the film's choreographer, NYCB principal
dancer Benjamin Millepied, whom she's been dating since the film wrapped
in the fall. For the classic NYC event Natalie chose a gorgeous Lanvin
wrapped frock with a sparkly gold belt and nude lining (stand out in
Voom by Joy Han's Joline Babydoll in Red or Black Halo's Gabriel Mini in Red). Nat wore strappy sand colored heels (love the shape of Coye Nokes' Grace D'Orsay in Gold) and carried a black satin clutch (love the unique texture of Inge Christopher's Theda Oversized Clutch in Black),
which seems a little heavy paired with such an airy frock. What are
your thoughts on Natalie's glam look? I'm mesmerized by the dress but I
think she could have used a little cohesion with her accessories, and
possibly a run through with a comb – her tresses are looking a little
too messy to be chic! Other celebs who came out in style for the revered
opening night at the ballet included Sarah Jessica Parker, who dazzled
in a sparkly beige skirt. Both leading ladies are avid supporters of the
arts in NYC, often spotted at events such as this. SJP even recently
recorded an audio tour of the Met for visitors to listen to while
navigating the famous museum – how cool is that?
Natalie Portman seen on Mar 12 2010 in Venice, CA. Natalie Portman
catches up with some friends for a casual lunch in Venice, CA on March
12. Shielding her eyes from the sunshine that LA has been seriously
lacking lately, Nat P shows off her quirky, down to earth style while
strolling Abbot Kinney on the way to lunch at J's Kitchen, which for
those of you in the area is a delicious little takeout spot serving up
vegan and macrobiotic food that even meat-eaters can enjoy. Natalie has
been a vegetarian for awhile, but converted to a full vegan lifestyle
(including not wearing leather) last year after reading Jonathan Safran
Foer's Eating Animals. I'm pretty sure she's not the only celeb
moved by this book – have any of you turned a few pages and felt
compelled to change your diet? For her casual afternoon out, Natalie
started with a checked button down (try Civil Smith's Naomi Oxford Light Button-Up in Oatmeal) tucked into indigo skinnies (can't go wrong with 7 For All Mankind's classic Skinny Rinse in Indigo),
pulling her hair back in a pony with a colorful canvas bag slung over
her shoulder (to nab the indie look, I like Whiting & Davis' Patchwork Messenger in Gold).
Simple white sneaks complete the look, which head-to-toe is pretty
much, well, simple! For an everyday look I'm definitely feeling the
girl-next-door vibe. What do you readers think of her style, having you
been wearing similar looks this spring? One of Nat's lunch dates was her
new beau, ballet dancer and professional choreographer Benjamin
Millepied. The happy new pairing met on the set of Nat's Black Swan dark dancer flick, which wrapped in NYC just before the holidays. An insider spilled the d's of their hook up to the press: "They
have actually been a couple since the fall, but she wanted to see how
serious it was before she started to show him off to her inner circle.
She really likes him." She must like him a lot for him to ask for
time off from his day job as a principal dancer for the NYC Ballet,
where he is valued as "one of the biggest names in ballet choreography
today." What a catch, Nat!
Natalie Portman seen on Mar 04 2010 in Los Angeles, CA. Showing off a flirty spring look, Natalie Portman
gets a little tipsy at the RAAD Grey Goose Party held at SoHo House in
Los Angeles on March 4. Nat arrived in a super quirky multicolored
stripe mini (try Alice + Olivia's 70's Stripe Dress in Multi to satisfy your sundress lust) with a boho embellished tweed jacket (love The Battalion's Asymmetric Boho Jacket in White or Suzabelle's Belleterre Cropped Jacket in Pewter), both from the sold-out Isabel Marant Spring 2010 collection. NP topped the look with shiny black peep-toes (like Samanta's Viv Peep in Black) and a luxurious satin clutch (check out Jalda's Fabric Kona in Black).
Black might not have been my first choice with such a colorful 'fit,
but I'm loving the overall effect, aren't you? The new youthful look
complements Nat's next film project, which stars her as a soon-to-be-wed
woman who embarks on a roadtrip with two BFFs who help her cope with
her marriage fears with "a combo of marijuana and the bonds of their decades-long friendship." Natalie Portman, weed comedian? Try to wrap your mind around that one! Variety is reporting Nat is going to both produce and star in the flick, appropriately titled Best Buds. NY Magazine speculates Nat was inspired to try her hand at stoner comedy after working with David Gordon Green on Your Highness, a medieval comedy about a lazy knight with a bit of a puff problem. Gordon Green also directed Pineapple Express - hmm, I'm sensing a theme here! Whatever her inspiration, do you think good girl Nat can pull off such an out-there role?
Natalie Portman seen on Feb 21 2010 in New York, NY. Perpetual do-gooder Natalie Portman
steps out for a hungry cause in New York City on February 22. Nat
proudly posed with her "FEED USA" tote at the event hosted by The Feed
Foundation in support of the Hungry in America Project, designed to
raise awareness of – you guessed it – hunger in America. Other celebs
who've supported the FEED cause in the past include Rachel Bilson,
and I have to add that I bought the same tote a few years ago when the
org joined with the World Food Programme to provide school lunches to
children in Africa. Both bags make great shopping totes and I suggest
you all support this worthy cause! In the spirit of fashion, Natalie
wore a mature herringbone frock from Rodarte (nab the full skirt look
with Ella Moss' Nora Dress in Charcoal or KEEMiA's Annikka Ballerina Dress in Silver), one of her fav designer duos whose NY Fashion Week runway show she watched from the front row last week. Nat added a vintage black belt (try Motif 56's Elise Croc Belt in Black) and knee high boots (can't go wrong with Coye Nokes' Josephine Tall Boot in Black) to her look, accented by a Dannijo crescent necklace (glam it up with Candace Ang's Small Hendrix Necklace in Grey).
It's no secret Natalie isn't the best dressed celeb in town, but I like
the good girl vibe she's mixing with leather accents. Somehow the
balance works for her, don't you think? While exiting the affair Natalie
covered up in a quilted down jacket with feminine ruffles – I don't
think it gets any girlier in chilly climates! At the Hunger event,
ironically held at the Colicchio & Sons restaurant, Nat supported
the cause alongside her ex-beau Jake Gyllenhaal. Nat has recently been
linked to choreographer Benjamin Millepied, but it looks like she had
such a great time catching up with Jake I wonder if their love will be
rekindled since he's fresh off his split from Reese Witherspoon. Do you
readers think it's in the cards?
Natalie Portman seen on Jan 09 2010 in New York, NY. Proving that even celebs can cut back and still look classy, Natalie Portman arrives at The Times Center in NYC on January 9 celebrating the 9th Annual New York Times
Arts & Leisure Weekend. While most celebs typically wear upwards of
5k in droolworthy fashion duds on the red carpet, Nat P kept it very
modest at this event, brightening up with a dreamy tulle ballet inspired
frock from the new Rodarte for Target collection (get the girly look
with Sue Wong's Vintage Beaded Short Dress in Daffodil or Ella Moss' playful Nora Dress in Charcoal).
Have any of you had a chance to check out this new budget designer
diffusion line? I love Rodarte so I was itching for it to hit the
stores, but I have to admit I was mildly disappointed – most of the
ballerina-esque skirts and dresses like this scream cheap up close!
Stick to CoutureCandy's elegant options like Tt Collection's Sabrina Skirt in Black
if you're in the mood to unleash your inner star. I do like the way
this looks on Natalie though, especially paired with a simple black
cardi (try Splendid's cozy Thermal Cloak in Black) and vintage belt from her own closet (play up your look with Motif 56's Elise Croc Belt in Black).
For all that she saved on her 'fit, NP splurged on Stella McCartney
ankle boots (I'm slightly obsessed with our latest arrival, Coye Nokes' Josephine Platform Bootie in Black/Black Suede),
staying warm in opaque black tights. Hot pink lipstick adds an
additional bump of color, balanced by her natural curls. What do you
think of the 'fit, does it work for her or is there something missing? I
just can't help but love that Natalie makes being a recessionista look
so good!
Natalie Portman seen on Dec 07 2009 in New York, NY. Looking gorgeous as always despite the cold, Natalie Portman patiently gets started filming scenes for her new drama Black Swan
in New York City on December 7. Although her new film is characterized
as a dark thriller, Nat P looks feminine as ever in her ballet pink
boucle coat (stay cozy in Qi Cashmere's Handknit Duster in Baby Pink or Sue Wong's Ribbon Coat in Ivory), delicate shredded white scarf and sophisticated ballet bun. Nat carried an oversized ash tote (Antoinette Lee's Stella Tote in Dove Grey has been one of my favorites for years) that matched her faded skinnies (try Diesel's Cuddy 8TN Jeans in Gray) and charcoal slouchy wedge boots (love the leather accent at the top of Farylrobin's suede Felicia Flat Boot in Grey). Dainty solitaire earrings (like Michele Michel's easy Droplets Earrings in Silver)
add a little bit of sparkle to Nat P's casual 'fit. What do you think
of her new character's style, would you bundle up in a similar look?
Natalie spent her morning cheerfully filming scenes exiting the subway
steps at Lincoln Center, with posters of co-star and on screen rival
Winona Ryder portrayed as a ballet star. Black Swan tells the
story of a good ballerina gone bad as the ballet star has to deal with
new competition from her younger rival. Mila Kunis also stars in this
thriller, which sounds like Center Stage with a cold, dark edge!
As a former ballerina, I can't resist a good flick revolving around the
stage. I hope they get this one right!
Natalie Portman seen on Nov 30 2009 in New York, NY. The beautiful Natalie Portman gets glammed up at the IFP 2009 Gotham Independent Film Awards in NYC on November 30. Is it just me or is she knocking it out of the park lately with her fashion choices? I'm dying to know who her new stylist is – it's obvious she's working with someone! At this event Natalie was honored with a Career Tribute award, which she proudly posed with in her Proenza Schouler Spring 2010 sequined tank dress (love 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent's Rib Racerback Tank in Black, Zoa's Sequin Strap Tunic in Dark Navy or LaROK's Sequined Rolly Dress in Black). Peep toe kitten heels and a shiny round Judith Leiber "disco ball" clutch (Donald J Pilner's Dylan in Distressed Metallic Silver is an edgy holiday alternative) add an old Hollywood element to this – dare I say – trendy look. I also love that she matched the disco ball shape of her earrings to her clutch (try Michele Michel's Onyx Disco Ball Earrings in Silver to add subtle sparkle to any holiday 'fit). I wouldn't normally associate Ms. Portman with celeb trendsetters but between her flirty Jason Wu frock she wore at the Brothers screening and the gorgeous strapless blue Stella McCartney dress worn on the "Late Show with David Letterman" last week, it's safe to say Nat is cleaning up her style resume these days! She opens up to Marie Claire on the cover of the January 2010 issue, talking about innocent she was growing up: “OK, so I didn’t really go to high school parties and yeah, I didn’t touch pot till I was in my 20s. I didn’t get flat-out drunk until I went to college. But I think that’s a good thing in many ways.” Hmm, is Nat P on her way to being our next good girl gone bad? Weigh in readers!
